Treasure Hunt Find 6/7 - 1983 Chevy Silverado SUPER

This was a very interesting find today! At Target of all places, and with about half empty pegs... I found the Silverado super hunt! It's been a good couple of days, with my great finds yesterday. It's not something I collect, but I couldn't leave it behind. Gotta love finding rare stuff in the wild!

New Hot Wheels L Case Finds!

I happened to pop by Walmart at the right time today! Came across a brand new L case dump bin. Another collector was already there, but he was friendly and we sorted through it. Found a few El Caminos but no Supers. I've been suspicious for a while that there is a "collector" employee at that store that goes through everything before it gets to the floor. Either that or the guy that got there before me found it and lied to me haha. Who knows.

But that's ok. I'm not a big fan of the blue side of the aisle and tend to stay away from it. However, the blue guys have been putting out some excellent product, and there were a few cars that I just couldn't pass up.

Matte white Porsche 993 GT2

Old-School Nissan Skyline

This color works really well on the 458. Could do without the silly stripes though.

Zamac 64 Continental, one of my favorite castings.

1970 Buick GSX. In my opinion the very best of the muscle car era.

A new Larry Wood casting I rather like, the Screamliner

How about some group pics with older releases?

The 2 releases of the Screamliner so far.

Easily one of the best castings in recent memory. Here's the new white one with the original Boulevard release and this year's red mainline car. The white car with the wheels from the yellow one would be my idea of perfection. Hmm...

The only two releases of this Skyline to my knowledge. I'm sure glad to see it back in the lineup!

Some great American sleds.

1955 Chevy Bel Air "Cuban" Style

So this is one of those customs that came out of late-night boredom. I couldn't sleep, and I didn't want to go paint anything or do any bodywork. I had been watching a TV show that had some scenes in Cuba, and I was reminded about the old American cars in Cuba. They are absolutely fascinating, how they've been kept on the road all thee years using whatever parts may be available at the time. Generally, they are held together with fishing line, duct tape, chewing gum and a prayer, and usually with the addition of a Mercedes OM615 diesel engine, or something similar. You have to commend that kind of commitment to a car.
Anyways, I thought I'd make something that looks like an old car you might see driving around in Cuba. I dug around in my bin of forlorn projects and dug out this old Bel Air. I dug out some old wheels, and pretty much called it done. Using the good ol silver sharpie, the trim looks like it used to be bright and shiny chrome but has tarnished over the years. Anyways, let's get onto the pics.. What do you think?

Quick Project: Revell 1996 Chevy Impala SS Rat Rod

Another one pulled from the depths of the forgotten projects box. This one is a little different from my usual style and taste, but who cares. I like it. I had these wheels laying around from a botched Jada project, and thought they would suit this car well. I think they do!

Project Wrap Up (Finally): Hot Wheels 3-Window 34 Hi Rakers Restoration

A big hello from sunny and warm Tennessee! It's in the upper 80s here today, it is quite lovely.
I finally finished my 3-Window 34 and thought I'd share some pics. It came out looking so much better than I was expecting. The color looks great! I know a lot of people harp on the PR5 wheels, but I like them a lot and think they improve almost every car they're put on. Now lets get to the photos....

Just a reminder as to the sorry state it was in before

Here she is now...

I'm absolutely thrilled with it. The casting was fairly pitted, so some of those imperfections came through, but I love it! This usually isn't the sort of car I do, but I'm keeping this one.

Sneak Peek: Hot Wheels 3-Window 34 Restoration is Almost Finished!!

Well, I was hoping to title this post "Project Wrap Up", but no such luck. I applied the final coat of paint to everything before I left for work, and now that I'm home, I found that the fenders had fallen off their drying stand and are smudged!! Ugh!!! So frustrating. So I'll have to sand it down and redo it. Oh well. Such is life. But here's a little sneak peek! Hopefully I'll have it finished this weekend.

It looks fantastic minus the smudge on the back :)
Sorry for the picture quality. My photo skills, as well as budget for a proper camera are lacking.

Have a look at the original project post if you missed it.

What to do on a Warm February Day?

First of all, sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days. I've been fighting a nasty cold, and going to work and class. Lots of fun. The weather has been nasty so painting hasn't been happening. I've come up with the crazy idea of not starting any new projects until I finish the ones I've already started... Crazy huh??

I got the primer coats laid down on the 3 Window 34 and Daimler Bus. Hopefully I will have both of these finished soon! Stay tuned
