Matchbox Lesney Lincoln Continental Superfast Custom

For this custom, I decided to make a "one-of-none", something that was never made from the factory (to the best of my knowledge), but easily could have been. There were several variations of the #31 Lincoln made, the light teal color, metallic gold, and the darker blue all were made in the regular wheel line, though the gold is quite rare. As far as the Superfasts go, they were only made in gold and the light teal. The teal Superfast is pretty much made from unobtamium, but the gold is pretty common. So I found  a beater gold one on ebay and swapped chassis with a darker blue one from my collection. I think it turned out pretty nice! I've got a nice collection of Lincolns now.

Lesney #31c-Lincoln Continental Restoration

The Lincoln Continental is an all time American classic. With the debut of the new concept Continental, I thought it would be appropriate to showcase this custom one I just finished. Hope you like it! 

I bought this one as a cheap ebay beater in need of a better life. 

These old suicide door Contis just look sinister in black, so I knew what color I wanted to paint it... Gloss black, contrasted with a white interior, I think it looks perfect!

Pretty good looking, huh?

Lincoln Continental Convertible, 1964 - Model of the Day

One of my favorite Hot Wheels castings is out Model of the Day. The 1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible made its debut in the 2000 First Editions series. It has proven to be a pretty popular car for Hot Wheels, and has been in constant use ever since. They did a hardtop model in 2007 I believe, and that one might be a bit more realistic in proportions than this one, but I still like the original. The suicide-door Continental was such a cool car when it came out in 1961, and I still long to own one someday. The slight update in 1965 really did not look all that great to me, I much prefer the originals, and I think values reflect that!

This is one of the first customs I ever did, and one of the most fun! I can't remember what color I was originally wanting to paint it, but I dropped it while the paint was still wet and ruined it. So, instead of stripping and repainting it, I decided just to go with it haha. Got out a bunch of random paint jars and just went to town. I absolutely love how it came out, and it's one of the coolest cars in my collection.

I've been busy today again as well. I pulled one of my favorite castings from the "junkyard" and set to work. This is the second one I've done, and I can't decide which I like better! They're both great.
