Matchbox Peugeot 205 Turbo Custom

Hey guys! We are back from a little diecast break. I recently bought a parts car for my Volvo, so I've been spending most of my free time in the garage playing with big toys haha.

But I'm back and have tackled a lovely little French hot hatch from Peugeot. I have loved the 205 since I was a kid, and have wanted to customize one for ages! This casting is a bit hard to come by in the states, but I happened across one in a cheap ebay junk lot.

1 Year Anniversary of LA's Diecast Blog!

I was looking back through old blog posts here, and realized it's been a little over a year now since I got into customizing and started this blog! Pretty amazing, time has really flown by.

It's been a great year, I've gotten into a completely new side of the hobby that I love so much. Made new friends, and developed my customizing skills a lot, and in a relatively short time. So to celebrate, I pulled together all the cars I've done since I started, and took a group picture. A very diverse group of cars here, and it would be absolutely impossible to pick a favorite. Probably the silver 1/43 scale Volvo though, as it's a replica of my 1:1.. :)
A handful have been sold off, but the vast majority are here with me and not going anywhere!

Hot Wheels Lotus Esprit S1 Custom

Well this awesome new Lotus has only been out a couple of months, but I just found one and decided to give it the LA custom treatment!! All Lotus cars look good in the old F1 black and gold livery, and this one is no different.. What do you think?

Modern Classic: Ford Escort RS Cosworth Part 2

Good evening everyone. Here's some photos of my Escort, I just finished it. My detail painting needs a little work but I'm happy with how it came out. There's a bit of a difference in shade from the metal to the plastic parts but overall I think it looks quite good! Some period Matchbox wheels round out the look I think. I'm not one to go for the most modern wheels on everything, I think period wheels look good sometimes. What do you think?

Modern Classic: Ford Escort RS Cosworth

As a proud lover of British Fords, and a 90s kid, the RS Cosworth has always been a dream car of mine. That ridiculous wing and the mean looks have always spoken to me. This is a childhood toy of time, much loved as you can tell. I recently acquired a mint condition one, so I thought it was time to give this old toy a little love. It's sitting in the paint stripper right now, so I might get it done tonight, depending on how long the paint takes to dry.. Stay tuned!

A Closer Look: 2014 Hot Wheels Ferrari 5 Pack

I was finally able to track this one down today. I'm a big Ferrari fan, so the Ferrari 5 Pack every year is a big deal to me! So I thought we'd dive in and take a closer look at the models they selected for this year's pack....

First up is a classic, the F40. This is definitely one of my all time favorite cars, but I think this casting does the car absolutely no justice. Hot Wheels really screwed it up, the Matchbox casting is so much better. But it looks good in yellow. I'm not usually a fan of stripes and such, but these look pretty good on the car. 

Next up is the F430 Scuderia. I'm not a fan of the F430 in real life, but this is a very good casting, it represents the car well. I'm absolutely in love with this color, and I think this is my favorite car of the pack simply because of this gorgeous shade of blue. I don't know about you, but I get REALLY tired of red Ferraris, so it's refreshing to see a different color. 

Now here is a casting we don't see much of, the 612 Scaglietti. A great modern rendition of what I consider to be a "proper" Ferrari: front-mounted V12, rear wheels drive, GT style luxury. Exactly what I would want in a Ferrari. Leave the mid-engine lunacy to Lamborghini. The styling of the 612 was a bit controversial, but I think it has aged nicely. Great color combo on this one as well. White looks good on every car, I've never been able to find proof otherwise!

Next up is the 458 Spider. Not much to say about this model, it's red, and it's a convertible. I like the Y5 wheels on it, I don't think we've seen those released on a 458 yet. Good stuff!

Lastly, we have the Enzo. Seemingly, no Ferrari set would be complete without one. I was never a big fan of this car in real life, it's just plain ugly. But this is a nice model, I like the metallic black and the red accents. It suits the car well.

A Closer Look: BMW Z4M Coupe by Hot Wheels

Good morning everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I've been so busy with school. What time I've had for playing with my toys has been spent organizing everything and selling off some of my collection. But anyways, I wanted to share some pics of one of my favorite castings from Hot Wheels, the BMW Z4M Coupe.

This car has only been seen twice, in white and black

The real version of this car was revealed by BMW Motorsport in 2006. It was designed to tackle the Nurburgring, by private customer teams in the German Endurance Championship and Nurburgring 24 Hour race. It was a fantastic race car, powered by the same 3.2 liter straight six that powers the stock Z4M. The stock engine was heavily reworked, and produced about 400 BHP. You could buy the race-ready car for about 250,000 euros.
