Johnny Lightning 1965 VW Transporter Ambulance - Found at Publix

This was found hanging on the pegs at my local Publix. It was a surprise, to say the least, so find Johnny Lightning product hanging on the pegs in a store, considering they went out of business a while ago.. There were plenty of cool models hanging with it tonight, but this is the only one that came home with me.

I'm not a big "Veedub" fan per se, but I seem to be completely unable to leave a model of a classic Transporter behind. It'll go nicely with the new M2 Transporters I found recently.

"Postflight Briefing" - Finds for the Week January 24th 2015

Man oh man has it been a slow week for me... Stores aren't stocking anything new, none of my ebay finds have arrived yet, and it just sucks!! I didn't think I was going to have anything at all to post tonight, but something managed to be found, finally.

A friend of mine tipped my off about this, the Johnny Lightning 1981 Jeep Wagoneer. He came across them at the Tractor Supply store of all places. I'm helping my dad restore a Grand Wagoneer, so when he said he found these, I jumped on it. I never expected Tractor Supply to carry diecast, but they had lots of interesting stuff. Some Ertl General Lee cars, and various Johnny Lightning trucks. They only had two Waggys left, so I grabbed both of them.

Such a nice model! Here's our 1:1, just for reference.

Here's hoping that next week is more productive for diecast..
Happy hunting!

Quick Project: Johnny Lightning 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

I bought this car in that 3 for $1 sale I mentioned before. A mint condition Johnny Lightning Mustang. Only problem? It's missing a wheel. This super nice wheels are different from the typical Matchbox or Hot Wheels wheel. The hub is attached to the axle, and the decorative part of the wheel pops on top. So on this one, the top part had just popped off and was long gone. No worries though, I know just the thing for it!

It's such a nice model, I didn't want to dismiss it just for doing a Reliant Robin impersonation

It doesn't look as good as the original in my opinion, but at least there are four wheels now!
The reason for choosing these wheels is laziness. They were sitting on my workbench, and the axles didn't need to be modified to fit. I'm allowed to be lazy from time to time.

So I'm going to let the JB Weld dry and go enjoy a cigar and a beer. Hope you like my 10 minute custom.
