Matchbox Cadillac CTS Wagon Custom

It's been a little while since I've been at the workbench! Been having too much fun working on my 1:1 scale toy.
But this Cadillac is a great casting, and I've been meaning to customize one for a while now! I went for the murdered-out look, and was cautious with the chrome. I think it came out looking pretty sweet.

Lesney #28c-Jaguar Mark X Restoration

A favorite Lesney casting of mine to share with you tonight. The fabulous Mark X Jaguar! This one wasn't in bad shape to begin with, but it reeked of cigarette smoke and just needed a little love. 

I've been on a white kick lately for some reason, every car I can think of just looks great in white. So what do you think? I painted the interior a slightly darker shade of tan as well. Notice I kept with my tradition of leaving the chassis paint alone. :)

Lesney #55c - Ford Galaxie Police Car Restoration

This was just a quick repaint, nothing too special, but I do like how it came out! I was going for the unmarked "detective car" look. I have misplaced my flash drive that has the "before" pics, but I'll update this post if I can find them haha.

This is a very well done casting from what I consider to be the golden age of Matchbox, the later Regular Wheel era. It's a fairly common casting, and I know I must have 8-10 beater ones laying around. What do you think of my plainclothes special?

Maserati Quattroporte - Model of the Day

Today's Model of the Day is a svelte Italian sedan, the fifth generation Maserati Quattroporte. The Quattroporte was unveiled at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, and was very well received. The past few generations of the car were not fondly remembered by most, and the all-new fifth generation car set to change those perception. With a Ferrari-derived 4.2 liter V8, it certainly succeeded in that mission!

The Hot Wheels version debuted as #29 in the 2004 "First Editions" series, and wasn't overly popular at first, they tended to sit on the pegs for quite a while if I remember correctly. It's amazing to think that that was over 10 years ago now!! Feels like yesterday.. Not popular new, but it is a pretty desirable model now, since it was only used once! This steel blue version is the only version of the car that Hot Wheels has done up to this point. A shame, as it is a lovely model. A quick check on ebay reveals typical prices of a mint in package car at around $8-$10. Not a ton of money, but quite a lot for a standard mainline car for sure. Is this the next Bugatti Veyron for Hot Wheels? We shall see, but I'd say it's a good time to pick one up if you don't own this little gem.
